The Quiet Power of Showing Up on LinkedIn Every Week

One of the things I’ve learnt from working with people on LinkedIn over the years is that you don’t have to be everywhere to make an impact. Some of the most effective people I see aren’t posting every day or chasing viral content. They’re simply showing up, week after week, sharing what they know and joining conversations.

And no, that doesn’t mean you need to live on LinkedIn.

I often see this: someone posts something really good, it gets a bit of engagement, maybe a few comments, and then… nothing. They disappear for the next three weeks. The problem isn’t that they don’t have anything to say. It’s that they’re relying on one post to do all the work.

You don’t need to become a LinkedIn influencer or have something profound to say every time you open the app. You just need to show up regularly.

Think about the people you trust professionally. You’ve probably seen their name, read something they’ve shared, noticed their perspective or had a conversation with them more than once. Over time, you get a sense of what they know and how they think.

That’s the quiet power of consistency.

One good post might get attention, but consistently sharing useful ideas helps people remember you. And when an opportunity comes along, you’re no longer a stranger. They already have a sense of who you are and what you do.

There’s another reason to make your expertise visible: how people find answers is changing.

You may have heard the term Answer Engine Optimisation, or AEO. In plain English, it’s about making your content useful and understandable to systems that generate answers from multiple sources.

For a founder, coach, consultant or other expert, that means making it clear who you are, what you know, how you know it and where someone can verify it.

I think of it as making your expertise easier to find, understand and verify.

Your LinkedIn presence can contribute to that wider picture. A clear profile, useful content and links to your website and work give people more ways to explore your expertise. Keeping your name, professional focus and credentials consistent across those places also helps people and search systems connect the dots.

Posting every week won’t automatically get you recommended by an AI tool. But sharing specific, credible insights gives you a stronger body of work for people to discover and assess.

So, what should you actually share?

Start with your everyday work. The questions clients ask, mistakes you see, lessons you’ve learnt, experiences that taught you something or things you’ve changed your mind about.

Explain how you reached a conclusion. Share a practical example. If you reference research or a statistic, link to the source. Give people something useful and a reason to trust it.

You don’t need 52 completely different ideas. You can revisit the same themes from different angles. Those recurring themes help people understand what to come to you for.

And remember, most people probably missed your last post anyway. We’re all busy. Nobody is sitting there keeping score of your LinkedIn posts (unless you run LinkedIn analytics reports like we do 😉).

Where you have a particularly useful insight, consider developing it into an article or answering the question on your website too, with your name clearly attached. Your expertise deserves a home beyond a passing moment in the feed.

Showing up isn’t just about posting either. Comment on someone else’s post. Share an experience, congratulate someone on their new role, ask a question or start a conversation.

LinkedIn is still a network of people. And people connect with people.

So, the learning here…

You don’t need to be everywhere on LinkedIn or post every day. You need to be present enough to be remembered and clear enough for someone to understand why they should come to you.

Don’t focus on making every post perform. Focus on consistently giving people a reason to know, like and trust you, while building a body of work that makes your expertise easier to find and verify.

Show up. Share what you know. Join the conversation. Do it every week.
